Medley Genomics wins Get Started RI pitch competition

PROVIDENCE – Medley Genomics, a data analytics company focused on tumor cells and creating targeted and personalized cancer treatments, won the Get Started Rhode Island Pitch Competition Thursday, taking home the grand prize valued up to $50,000, including $25,000 cash. The company was pitched by Medley Genomics co-founder, president and CEO Patrice Milos.

Seven companies competed in the pitch competition, which was held at the WaterFire Arts Center. Before the competition, Cox Business Vice President Ross Nelson told the crowd the fan vote and judges vote has never been the same and the tradition continued Thursday.

ReliaBra, a company that will make durable, machine-washable backless and strapless “sticky bras” with removable and replaceable adhesives, won the fan vote, winning the $5,000 cash prize. The company was pitched by Rose Mangiarotti, founder of ReliaBra.

This year’s moderator was Ken Kraft, senior vice president of marketing and sales operations for Cox Business.

This year’s judges included Shannon Shallcross, co-founder and CEO of BetaXAnalytics; Karl Wadensten, president and CEO of VIBCO Vibrators; Matt Tortota, co-founder and CEO of Crave Food Systems; and Chris Bergenheim, PBN web editor.

“Once again, attendees of Get Started Rhode Island were treated to a pitch competition packed with talent and innovation,” said Nelson. “At Cox Business, we know the impact these entrepreneurs will have on the local and global landscape, and we’re thrilled to support them in their journey.”
