The workplace of 2023 is vastly different than that of 2019. The great resignation, hybrid/remote work, work/life balance and enormous societal change all call for managers who have the talent to adapt, communicate, motivate, collaborate and lead. That’s why RI Bio is starting the new year with six new individual livestream workshops to give employees the skills they need in this new world.

Enrollment is flexible – take only the workshops that interest you or attend all six to receive a Certificate of Completion. Each workshop is presented in two sessions over two consecutive weeks, at 2.5 hours per session.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

  • 1/12/23 and 1/19/23 – RI Bio 1001 – Leadership Principles for Building Healthy, Successful Hybrid/Remote Teams.  The workplace has undergone a seismic shift post-COVID. Demands for flexible scheduling, new operating models, dispersed/distributed team collaboration, and recent technologies that enable remote teamwork and which is increasingly diverse are all factors a leader must contend with. Traditional leadership skills no longer apply. Today’s leaders need new skills to set their people up for success. Participants will learn the leadership fundamentals for building a healthy productive workplace that enables hybrid/remote team success. Skills addressed: Leadership, team accountability, building productivity, team building.
  • 2/2/23 and 2/9/23 – RI Bio 1002 – Gaining Visibility, Influence, and Business Standing in a Hybrid/Remote Workplace.  Today’s new workplace is hybrid/remote. Managing up, exerting influence over people who don’t report to you, gaining visibility for career advancement, building business integrity, and advocating on behalf of yourself and your people has never been more of a challenge. This new workplace is dispersed, siloed, and highly diverse. Gaining visibility and building business credibility for you and your team takes planning and a conscious, strategic approach. Participants will learn how to negotiate the operating boundaries of a hybrid/remote operating structure that supports performance accountability and professional advocacy for you and your team. Skills addressed: Leadership, operational efficiency, team accountability, building productivity, career advancement.
  • 2/16/23 and 2/23/23 – RI Bio 1003 – Building Sustained Engagement, Team Resilience, and Top Productivity in Hybrid/Remote Teams. The great resignation and a tight labor market have highlighted the need for business leaders to consciously invest in their existing teams to maintain positive, productive relationships that incent them to stay and thrive. Investing in a hybrid/remote team takes planning and requires new, more collaborative leadership skills based on emotional intelligence and trusted relationships. Participants will examine new leadership methods that promote employee engagement through teambuilding, value-based leadership that results in trusted partnerships based on assuming positive intent. Skills addressed: Leadership, team productivity, employee retention, engagement, well-being, advancement.
  • 3/2/23 and 3/9/23 – RI Bio 1004 – Building a Positive Team Dynamic That Enhances Resilience in Hybrid/Remote Teams.  For the last two and a half years, it’s been a struggle to get through the day. Unsurprisingly, this endless firefight has taken its toll. Leaders and employees are feeling tired and burned out. Leaders need to take proactive steps to change this dynamic before it’s too late. It is time to shift to a more sustainable operating plan that promotes well-being, builds team resilience, and presents a hopeful future. Participants will learn how to pause and assess the current state of their team while also planning proactively for future workplace improvements. We will review the steps for creating team positivity, a leader’s responsibilities as a role model, and how to implement change in a hybrid/remote team. Skills addressed: Leadership, team productivity, resilience, well-being, employee retention, engagement, advancement, time management.
  • 3/16/23 and 3/23/23 – RI Bio 1005 – Building Multi-Channel Communication Skills for Positive Interpersonal Interactions in Hybrid/Remote Teams.
Hybrid/remote teams are highly dependent on technology to stay in touch as they work toward shared work goals. Communication amongst hybrid/remote teams has never been more important or more complicated because of the overwhelming number of communication channels available today. Business leaders must establish communication protocols that suit their unique team needs, then they must coach their team members so everyone works in concert together. Participants will learn how to build and implement communication protocols that foster cohesive teamwork, they will examine their own biases/preference to understand how they contribute to communication breakdowns, and review research on how digital communication changes things. Skills addressed: Effective presentation/persuasion, clarity & strength, building team trust, delivering positive feedback, managing difficult conversations.
  • 3/30/23 and 4/6/23 – RI Bio 1006 – Leading Positive Strategic Change With Mindful Intent in Hybrid/Remote Teams.
Change is an inevitable part of business life. Smart leaders can harness the opportunities it presents to keep their people motivated and growing. Accomplishing this in today’s hybrid/remote workplace takes conscious action and a strategic, purposeful leadership approach that focuses on long-term results achieved through mindful planning day-to-day. Participants will learn how to establish long term goals that focus on forward progress rather than daily survival. We will explore the use of the 12-month calendar to map out daily operating plans that get leaders and their teams through the day, but also move things forward toward a more sustainable future. Skills addressed: Business strategy, organizational adaptability, goal setting, critical thinking, problem solving, change management.
